Dixon Elementary School Raises over $4,600 for FHW

Under the mentorship of Emma Favill, the students of Dixon Elementary School in Brookfield, Wisconsin, raised $4,630.78 for the Milwaukee VA Fisher House. This is the third year in a row that the Dixon students raised the money through their performances of the Nutcracker play during the holidays.

All the student performers present during the check presentation were as enthused about knowing the money would help military and veterans’ families during their times of need as they were about performing in front of captivated audiences.

Emma Favill is a high school senior who volunteers her time to mentor approximately 70 Dixon students in preparation for each performance. This is her fifth and final year as she will be attending college this fall. Earlier this past year, Fisher House Wisconsin (FHW) recognized Emma for her self-less commitment to mentoring and being a role model for elementary school children. Emma is a role model of servant leadership for other high school students, as well as adults in the community.

Following is a portion of the Certificate of Recognition citation that FHW presented to Emma during an all-students assembly at her high school:

For outstanding commitment to exposing Dixon Elementary School students to dance and stage experiences in the preparation and production of the Nutcracker in order to spark students’ passions and improve their stage presence, confidence and dance ability while they have fun putting the show together.
We are forever grateful for the support of the Dixon Elementary students, their parents, Emma Favill and the Dixon faculty and staff.
