The Milwaukee VA Fisher House is just over 13,000 square feet inside with 16 bedroom suites. Its warm and comfortable interior is professionally decorated and beautifully furnished. Functionally, guests and their families have access to well stocked kitchens and inviting living rooms, complete with a library and toys for children. Highly trained staff and caring volunteers are available to assist all Fisher House guests.
The cost of the project was approximately $6.2 Million, a portion of which was funded by the Fisher House Foundation. Our goal as Fisher House Wisconsin was to raise the required funds before groundbreaking and we are proud to say we were the first Fisher House to accomplish that task. We broke ground on 3 June 2014. As of 1 Oct 2015 we moved from a Capital campaign to an Operating campaign to ensure we secure enough funds to run the home. All of the funds raised up to 1 Oct were gifted to the Fisher House Foundation to help defray the cost of construction. The funds raised after 1 Oct 2015 will be used by Fisher House Wisconsin to take care of veterans’ families in their time of need.
